Near the Knight's Tower, on the present-day Grodzisko street leading from Wodzisław to Połomia, stands a column chapel, probably from the second half of the seventeenth century. Historians consider it the oldest preserved chapel of the Wodzisław land to our times. Associated with its location are many unconfirmed hypotheses and legends. Most often mentioned is the connection with the march of King John III Sobieski's troops to Vienna in 1683. For this reason, in the past it was called the "Sobieski Chapel." Another hypothesis suggests that the chapel stands on the site of an old medieval castle chapel from the thirteenth century, calling the chapel and the place where it stands "Castle-like." It is a brick structure erected on a square plan. It consists of three stories. In the lower part, the corners of the chapel are framed by pilasters with semicircular niches. The middle part is topped with a cornice, while the upper part is adorned with panels in which images of saints are hung. The chapel is covered with a two-pitched roof tiled with shingles and topped with a characteristic triple cross. The cross crowning the chapel suggests the construction of the object dates to the time when the archbishop of Ostrihom, Georg Szelepcsenyi, was the owner of Wodzisław Śl.
