The burial chapel of Fr. Markiefka is located in the Old Cemetery in Mysłowice on Mickiewicz Street. It was built in 1858 on the initiative of Fr. Markiefka himself, who was a parish priest in Mysłowice from 1839. Valued for his pastoral zeal, he cared not only for the religious life of the parishioners, but also for social issues. He was co-author of a collection of Polish hymns and a promoter of sobriety among the faithful. The chapel served as a place of prayer and rest for clergy, and Markiefka himself was buried in it.
The building has an octagonal plan and elements characteristic of historicism with Neoclassical details. The elevations are adorned with niches with brick and inscribed crosses as well as semicircular windows. The interior contains a marble epitaph plate dedicated to Markiefka, a brick mensa, and a wooden carved "Pieta". The chapel is the oldest preserved building on this cemetery and has been listed in the register of monuments.
Despite the passage of time, the object remains an important symbol of the sacred heritage of Mysłowice and a testimony to the work of Fr. Markiefka, who significantly influenced the religious and social life of the local community.
