The palace in Niewodniki is one of the 19th-century residences of the Opole region, picturesquely located among greenery above the Oder valley. The palace was built between 1870 and 1872 for Julius Wichelhaus as an elegant manor residence, combining elements of French Baroque and Neo-Renaissance. The two-story brick building is distinguished by a mansard roof with dormers, a representative facade with seven axes and a three-arch portico leading to a terrace with a stone balustrade. Subtle decorations give the entire palace volume lightness and elegance. The residence is surrounded by an extensive landscape park with alleys, old trees and remnants of former small architecture. The whole once formed a harmonious manor-farm complex, whose elements were also farm buildings and brick fencing. After World War II, the palace served various functions, the estate was nationalized and was turned over to the PGR. It housed a cultural center and a holiday resort, and at the end of the 20th century underwent major renovation and was adapted as a hotel and conference facility. In recent years, the palace has faced financial difficulties and has been listed several times on lists of objects for sale, which has affected its technical condition. Nevertheless, it remains an important point on the Trail of Castles and Palaces around Opole, attracting the attention of lovers of architecture and history of the region.
