At the intersection of Fryderyka Chopina Street and Aleja Sportowców in Siemianowice Śląskie [Siemianowitz], there is a monument to Wojciech Korfanty (1873–1939). The monument depicts the Polish politician and national activist, leader of the Third Silesian Uprising, who fought for the incorporation of Silesia into Poland. Korfanty was also a deputy in the Reichstag and the Sejm of the Republic of Poland. He was born in Sadzawki, today part of Siemianowice Śląskie, in the southeastern part of the city. The monument was erected in 1986 from public contributions; the construction was subsidized by workplaces and the City Hall of Siemianowice Śląskie. The initiator of the monument's construction was the Society of Friends of Siemianowice, and the author of the design was the sculptor Mirosław Kiciński. The inscription on the pedestal reads: WOJCIECH KORFANTY 1873-1939
W 65 ROCZNICĘ WYBUCHU III POWSTANIA ŚLĄSKIEGO.
WYBITNEMU SYNOWI ZIEMI ŚLĄSKIEJ, KOMISARZOWI PLEBISCYTOWEMU, PRZYWÓDCY III POWSTANIA ŚLĄSKIEGO OFIARUJĄ SIEMIANOWICZANIE. ("WOJCIECH KORFANTY 1873-1939
