On the market square in Mikołów [Nikolai] stands a monument to St. Adalbert [Święty Wojciech], the patron saint of the city and Poland. It was unveiled on April 23, 2013, and the sculpture was created by Prof. Zygmunt Brachmański, the creator of, among others, the Monument to the Scouts of September and Wojciech Korfanty in Katowice, as well as the sculpture of Pope St. John Paul II in Rybnik, in front of the Basilica of St. Anthony. The bronze figure stands on a white pedestal and depicts the saint in traditional clerical attire. In his left hand, he holds an oar, symbolizing the tool with which he was wounded, while with his right hand, he blesses the residents and guests of the market square.
