The history of the railway in Wodzisław Śląski dates back to the mid-19th century. The residents of the developing city desired to obtain a railway connection with Raciborz and Katowice. Initially, the city's inhabitants used the Czernica station (now Rydułtowy). The present railway station was built in 1882, and in 2017-2018 it underwent a comprehensive renovation. Near the building, there is also a disused and vandalized water tower and pump. The station is an important freight hub on the Katowice-Bogumin route. Since 2022, both local and international trains to Vienna, Graz, and Prague have been operating from Wodzisław Śląski. In January 1945, a death march from the concentration camps in Auschwitz arrived at Wodzisław (Loslau) station. The prisoners were transported further via Bogumin and Ostrava towards Austria and Germany. A plaque on the wall of the station building informs about the tragic events from the end of World War II.
