The votive chapel, also called feudal, is one of the more interesting and symbolic monuments of Kędzierzyna-Koźle. It stands in the Klodnica district, on Wyspianski Street, and its construction dates to 1814. It was built by local farmers as an expression of gratitude for liberation from serfdom, which is commemorated by the inscription above the entrance.
The chapel is an important symbol of social transformations associated with the Napoleonic times. The residents of Klodnica erected the chapel as a sign of freedom from serfdom, which was part of larger Prussian reforms following Napoleon's defeat.
The object has the form of a small, two-story chapel-bell tower erected on a plan close to a square. It is brick, plastered, with characteristic soft rounded corners. The upper story, open with arcades, houses a small bell, and the whole is covered with a shingle hipped roof.
The chapel has been renovated several times, with a major overhaul carried out in 1926, when a German inscription was added, and in 2013, when the object underwent comprehensive conservation. Today it is listed in the register of monuments and represents a unique testimony to local history, recalling the pivotal moment of the end of serfdom in these lands.
