In the Jeleń district of Jaworzno, there is a historic sundial, probably created during World War II. According to local accounts, it was made by local stonemasons during the Nazi occupation. The object was placed in the Jeleń park (created by the decision of the occupation authorities) and was intended to serve not only a practical but also a symbolic function – reminding of the passing of time and the endurance of life despite difficult circumstances. The clock was made of stone, with a distinct gnomon (shadow indicator). Today, it is partially damaged and does not indicate the hours accurately. Although no detailed documents about its creators or original appearance have survived, the monument is an important element of local identity. The residents of Jeleń consider it a historical curiosity, and tourists can treat it as a walking point combining landscape values and a memento from wartime.
