This historic Lutheran temple is located on Powstańców Street in Orzesze [Orzesche]. Protestantism appeared in Orzesze as early as the second half of the 16th century during the Reformation. Services were then held in the church in Woszczyce and in the Church of St. Lawrence in Orzesze until 1629, when the Restitution Edict forced Evangelicals to return to the Catholic Church, leading to repressions and the dispersion of the faithful. A revival occurred after 1742, following the takeover of Upper Silesia by Prussia. At that time, services were held in various places, including the guildhall of the "Frederick-Orzesze" mine and in the chapel in Zawiść, belonging to the Hegenscheidt family. The current Church of the Holy Spirit was erected thanks to the foundation of Katarzyna Hegenscheidt in the years 1912–1913, according to the design of architect F. Henry from Wrocław [Breslau], and consecrated on May 13, 1913. Its interior features stained glass windows funded by the Hegenscheidt family and a 10-stop organ by the famous firm Schlag & Söhne from Świdnica [Schweidnitz]. In the 1980s, the church underwent significant renovations covering the altar, pulpit, presbytery, roof, and windows. It remains an important testimony to the history of Evangelicals in Upper Silesia and an example of early 20th-century Protestant architecture.
